The Department of History at Texas State University-San Marcos invites applications for a historian of colonial Spanish America, with a regional specialization in the Andes preferred as demonstrated through dissertation and/or research and publications. The search is at the rank of tenure-track assistant or associate professor, salary commensurate with experience. Ph.D. required by time of appointment. To be eligible for hire at the associate professor rank, candidate must meet the requirements for that rank as established by the department. The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and title based on university and department established standards. The successful candidate will teach advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in colonial Latin American history, as well as survey courses in World Civilization or U.S. history. In addition to excellence in teaching, an active research agenda and participation in departmental programs is expected. Appointment date is August 15, 2010.
