The Department of History at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign seeks a postdoctoral fellow in Chinese science and technology. Period of specialization is open. The fellow will be expected to pursue his or her own research project, teach or co-teach one course each semester, and collaboration with the Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies (EAPS) projects, including the Science and Technology in the Pacific Century initiative. The fellow will have opportunities to interact with faculty and graduate students of the Program in Science and Technology Studies, which is a growing interdisciplinary program across campus. The appointment is for one year beginning August 16, 2009, with the possibility of extension for two years. Salary is very competitive. Candidates must have received PhD within 5 years of the start of the fellowship.
