The Division of Humanities, Arts & Cultural Studies in New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University's West campus invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in colonial Latin American history, broadly defined, to begin in Fall 2009.
All geographic areas and fields of specialization will be considered with a preference for those whose work is transatlantic and/or trans-regional in scope. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research agenda and teach a global history survey (post-1500) as well as upper-level offerings in their areas of specialization. Teaching courses on themes related to race, ethnicity and/or gender may also be included. The expected teaching load will be two courses per semester.
A Ph.D. in history by August 2009 is required. Prior college/university teaching experience and appropriate relevant publications are preferred. Deadline for review of complete applications is December 12, 2008 and will continue until search is closed. Preliminary screenings of candidates who have submitted an application prior to the deadline will be scheduled and conducted at the 2009 AHA annual meeting in New York City.
