EARLY MODERN EUROPE, c. 1500- c. 1800: Any Rank. Tenure system. Michigan State University's Department of History seeks an historian whose research focuses on Early Modern Europe. Preference will be given to candidates whose work is comparative, crosses geographical or cultural borders, or examines connections between Europe and the world. We are looking for someone to contribute to building an exceptional department with strong connections to MSU's Area Studies Centers and/or Gender Center, and other disciplinary units.
Teaching load is two courses per semester and includes teaching at all levels from general undergraduate education to advanced graduate training. Evidence of scholarship and a strong commitment to teaching expected. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue external funding. Ph.D. required. Salary, benefits and support for research are competitive. Full-time academic-year appointment will begin August 16, 2009.
