The Department of History at the College of William & Mary invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in the early modern history of the British Isles, to begin August 2009. Applicants will be expected to hold a Ph.D. by the time of appointment. Scholars working on any aspect of the cultural, political, social, economic, or religious history of the period 1500-1700 are eligible. The Department is especially interested in intellectual breadth and in work that explores connections between the British Isles and Western Europe, but the candidate's primary focus must be the former. The successful applicant will be expected to teach two courses per semester, including undergraduate surveys and seminars, and seminars in the Comparative History Master's program.
