The History Department at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, invites applications for a tenure track assistant professorship in the history of the Black Atlantic, with a Caribbean focus, to begin in fall 2009, pending funding approval. Comparative or transnational approaches to the region are desirable; chronological specialization is open. The successful candidate will join a department with strong programs in both African American history and the History of Atlantic Cultures and the African Diaspora. Applications are due by November 21, 2008, and should include a cover letter, vitae, three letters of recommendation and a writing sample.
