The Federated Department of History at Rutgers University, Newark and New Jersey Institute of Technology invites applications for a tenure-track appointment, at the rank of assistant professor, in nineteenth-century U.S. history, based at Rutgers, Newark, to begin September 2009. Ph.D. in hand by September 2008 preferred, but ABD considered. Preference will be given to candidates whose teaching and writing will contribute to RutgersĀ new Ph.D. program in American Studies, which focuses on urban life, race, immigration, gender, and sexuality; specialties in legal history are also welcome.
