The Department of Asian History at Seoul National University invites applications for a tenure track assistant professorship in the history of Indian Ocean World, i.e. South Asian or Southeast Asian history. Expertise in early modern or modern period will be considered with preference. A secondary field of research and teaching interest in comparative history is desirable. As the successful candidate will be expected to teach not only undergraduate courses but also graduate courses using original sources, he/she should have a good command of relevant native languages.
He/she will be required to teach 9 hours a week in English. The salary is approximately 50,000 U. S. dollars and may vary depending on previous career. PhD degree is required by the time of appointment.
