Distinguished Professorship in British History. The Department of History at Appalachian State University invites applications for the newly endowed Roy Carroll Distinguished Professorship in British History. The successful candidate will be employed as a tenured faculty member at the full professor level beginning in August 2008. The department is searching for an outstanding scholar with a distinguished record of publication, teaching, and service.
Appalachian State University is a member institution of the sixteen-campus University of North Carolina System. Located in Boone, North Carolina, the University has approximately 15,000 students and has been ranked by "U.S. News and World Report" as one of the top 15 among southern regional universities since the rankings first appeared in 1986. The Carol Grotnes Belk Library and Information Commons is home to a number of important research collections of interest to scholars of British history and the Department of History was home to one of the leading journals of British history, Albion.
