Indiana University Southeast (IUS) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in modern European history to begin in fall 2008. Candidates must have Ph.D. in hand at the time of application, and be prepared to present evidence of teaching effectiveness and a strong research agenda. Teaching responsibilities consist of freshmen survey courses—The World in the Twentieth Century each semester; Europe: Renaissance to Napoleon and Europe: Napoleon to Present alternate semesters--and on a rotational basis an array of upper level courses in European history, including a sophomore seminar and a senior seminar. The successful candidate must demonstrate a superior general knowledge of modern European history. Preference for an historian with a thematic focus, such as the re-configuration of Europe, nation-building, migration, displacement, genocide, or urban history in the post-1815 era. IUS is an AA/EOE.
