The Department of History at Wheeling Jesuit University invites applications to fill a tenure-track position in modern American history beginning in the Fall semester of 2006.
Description: Assistant Professor of History. Area of specialty: Twentieth-century U.S. Desirable sub-fields include Africa, the Cold War, military history, intellectual history, diplomatic history, and the philosophy of history. Teaching responsibilities include modern world history, historical methods, and a shared US survey.
Qualifications: Ph.D. expected by time of appointment. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the many facets of undergraduate teaching. Above all, this means high-quality pedagogy, but it also includes the desire and ability to carry out professional research, a commitment to the general intellectual life of the campus, and an understanding of our Universitys particular mission as a liberal arts institution.
