Historic Preservation Specialist. This position serves as a project manager for historic preservation digital initiatives. This is accomplished by gathering data on educational needs; developing materials to be posted on the Internet; writing grants and preparing RFPs; reviewing products for quality; and coordinating revisions. The position also manages and markets the Wisconsin Historic Preservation Database (WHPD), including coordinating database and other software upgrades and enhancements with the Society's IT staff and outside vendors;monitoring work flow; and working with WHS staff to increase user subscriptions. Successful applicants will have an understanding of historic preservation; ability to develop and present training materials on historic preservation via the web; and ability to write grant applications and requests for proposals. Candidates will have strong writing ability, ability to work collaboratively with a team for larger organizational goals, familiarity with web standards, and ability to coordinate multiple projects. Note: programming work is contracted out to vendors.
