Twentieth Century United States HistoryGender, Race and Class. Youngstown State University invites applications from candidates with a field in Long Twentieth Century (1877 to present) American History focusing on issues of gender, race and class. Experience and/or interest in Social Studies Education (K-16) strongly desired. Candidate will teach courses focusing on long twentieth century, gender, and social studies capstone, as well as American surveys. Candidate must demonstrate a scholarly agenda, interest in Social Studies Education and university or community service. Ph.D. awarded by August 2005. Teaching experience strongly preferred.
The city of Youngstown is located between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. The Youngstown-Warren area has a population in excess of 500,000 and offers the usual amenities of urban living but few of the problems of the big city. All types of housing are available within a 30-minute drive of the campus, and housing costs in the Youngstown area are significantly lower than in most metropolitan areas.
This is a 9-month, tenure-track appointment. Salary: $43,910.
