CALL FOR RESEARCH PARITICPANTS: Social Justice Oriented Learning
I am gathering research data about social justice oriented learning. Do you use oral history or other methods to teach students about racism, sexism, immigration, feminism, ableism, queer identity, and/or otherwise advocate for social justice in your teaching spaces?Eligible participants include teachers at all levels of higher education and all fields of specialty. Participant information will remain confidential.
Participants will be asked to complete an eighteen-question online survey and, if willing, to share with the researcher an assignment that has proven effective in helping students think critically about social justice issues. The researcher is interested in the risks and administrative support educators have in executing a socially just and diverse curriculum as well as the practices through which they approach social justice oriented learning. The survey can be completed in twenty minutes or less. Participate by clicking on the URL below. Please share this call broadly and with colleagues at your university and at other universities. I will send a second call before the September 5th deadline.
The researcher plans to present these data at the 2014 National Women’s Studies Association Conference in November. UNC Asheville IRB has reviewed and approved this human subjects research project, and the researcher wishes to thank UNC Asheville's University Research Council and Sophie Mills for their financial support in executing this project.
