Organised by Project Southeast Asia, University of Oxford, the Southeast Asian Studies Symposium is the world’s largest annual Southeast Asian Studies conference. Held for the past three years in Oxford, UK, the 4th Symposium will travel to Southeast Asia for the first time. It will be co-hosted by the Jeffrey Cheah Institute on Southeast Asia, and held at Sunway University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The 2015 Symposium will focus on the theme of “The Year of ASEAN: Integrating Southeast Asia”, particularly in regard to the four sub-themes of the Environment and Natural Resources, Public Health, Education, and the Economy. However, panels focusing on any topics relating to Southeast Asia are welcome.
The deadline for proposal submission is 1 October 2014.
The Symposium will also offer alternative opportunities outside formal panels. These include a room for group meetings/discussions/project debates; an area for the display of posters; and the screening of movies and staging of art or cultural performances. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in any of the above.
