Dr. Robert Carriedo graduated from the US Air Force Academy in 1984 with a BS in Political Science. While serving in the Air Force, he earned an MA in Latin American Studies from the University of Florida and a PhD in Latin American history from the University of New Mexico. During his two tours as a member of the History Department at USAFA, he taught several courses on Latin American history and world history. Since retiring from the Air Force in 2012, Dr. Carriedo has served on the staff of the Academy’s Department of International Programs, where he oversees the semester study abroad program and teaches Spanish.
Dr. Carriedo will discuss the intricate and rich history of Latin America's efforts to overthrow European colonial control during the 19th Century.
