Researching New York Conference University at Albany, Albany, New York November 20 & 21 2014
REMINDER - CALL FOR PAPERS
The organizers of Researching New York 2014 invite proposals for presentations on any aspect of New York State history —in any time period and from any perspective. In addition, we are seeking submissions that explore expressions and consequences of how we understand the range of New York identities. Identities may be formed over time or may appear in moments of tragedy or triumph. Shared experiences in a community, region, or nation may knit a common purpose or cause conflict; may guide policy, foster understanding or promote political or cultural expression. Often, these identities do not stand alone, but intersect with each other. We seek proposals that explore notions of identity—individual, group, community; political, gender, ethnic, geographic, and beyond—that help to tell the stories of New York.
We are also pleased to announce the first of our featured speakers, political and presidential historian Richard Norton Smith discussing his newest work to be published in October 2014, "On His Own Terms: A Life of Nelson Rockefeller."
