Chicago History magazine publishes articles on various aspects—cultural, political, economic, social, architectural, etc.—of the history of Chicago. The Spring 2015 issue, which coincides with the end of the sesquicentennial of the Civil War and which will be published on April 1, 2015, will be devoted to the Civil War and post-war era in Chicago. We are seeking papers of 4,000-4500 words that shed light on the impact of the war on the city and its residents as well as the city's involvement in the war. Endnotes are required and will be published.
Please note: articles in Chicago History are illustrated; the editorial staff is responsible for photo research and final decisions regarding illustrations.
Proposals are due August 1, 2014; manuscripts are due October 1, 2014. Authors receive an honorarium of $500 upon publication.
