Seeking panelists for “VII National Workshop of Labor History - III International "Worlds of Labor", Call for papers, deadline 1 April 2014
Dear list members,
I am part of the international research project “Migration Management and International Organizations: A history of the establishment of the International Organization for Migration” co financed by Greece and the European Unionstudying the intergovernmental organizations established after WWII in order to organize the migration of displaced persons and later refugees and migrants from Europe to overseas countries.
Our project aims to contribute to migration scholarship by elucidating the emergence of the concept of ‘migration management’, its use and the factors influencing it today. More specifically, we intend to explore what led to the acceptance of a comparatively high degree of legal regulation, intergovernmental and state intervention and a coordinated approach to the regulation of population flows in the post-WWII era.
We are organizing a panel on “Post WWII labor migration to Latin America” for the VII National Workshop of Labor History - III International "Worlds of Labor" Salvador, Bahia (Brazil), Universidade do Estado da Bahia, 26-29 November 2014 (See call below).
Proposals for papers dealing with all facets of labor migration to Latin America during that period are welcome. Please contact me offlist at firstname.lastname@example.org . Mind that the deadline for papers is April 1, 2014.

VII National Workshop of Labor History - III International "Worlds of Labor" Call for papers, deadline 1 April 2014
Call for Papers VII National Workshop of Labor History - III International "Worlds of Labor" Salvador, Bahia (Brazil), Universidade do Estado da Bahia, 26-29 November 2014
The members of the Workgroup "Worlds of Labor" - Brazilian History Association (GT "Mundos do Trabalho" - Associação Nacional de História - ANPUH) have the pleasure to invite researchers to submit presentation proposals for the III International "Worlds of Labor" Conference, to be held jointly with the VII National Workshop of Labor History. The event will take place from 26-29 November 2014 at the Universidade do Estado da Bahia (UNEB), Salvador, Bahia. Presentation proposals must be based on empirical research, theoretical and methodological debates and assessments of the academic production that enable the dialogue with others interested in similar themes.
The Workgroup "Worlds of Labor" - an official section of the Brazilian History Association - has been playing a fundamental role in the diffusion of the increasing Brazilian labor historiography and in fomenting domestic and international inter- exchanges. Since its creation in 2001, the WG promotes thematic conferences inside ANPUH, bi-annual national symposiums and, in alternate years, workshops for researchers in the field. In 2010, the I International "Worlds of Labor" Conference was held jointly to the V National Workshop of Labor History in Florianópolis at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC). In 2012 the Centro de Pesquisa e Documentação de História Contemporânea do Brasil / Fundação Getúlio Vargas (CPDOC/FGV) held the II International "Worlds of Labor" Conference and the VI National Workshop of Labor History in Rio de Janeiro.
As in previous events, our aim is to provide for the presentation of research taking place in a variety of academic disciplines about labor history in Brazil and in other parts of the world. We intend to foment the collaboration between researchers on the field and the discussion of the current agenda for historical studies on the worlds of labor, both at the domestic and at the global fronts. We expect that proposed papers will debate the worlds of labor as broadly and comprehensively as possible.
The VII National Workshop of Labor History and the III International "Worlds of Labor" Conference will comprise roundtables and coordinated sessions. The round tables will be composed by invited national and international specialists. The coordinated sessions are open to registration, and proposals can be made either for individual presentations or for complete sessions (with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 participants). Proposals based on interdisciplinary and inter-institutional connections, as well as those involving different countries and regions are particularly welcome.
Important deadlines: Pre-registration: 1 Feb. 2014 - 1 Apr. 2014 Release of acceptance letters: 1 July 2014 Delivery of papers: 1 Sep. 2014
