This event will bring together early modernists from the Midlands three cities group of Nottingham, Leicester and Birmingham to explore the intellectual and institutional contexts of the early modern career.
The day will mix short academic papers with small-group networking discussions, and a plenary address will be given by Professor Gordon Campbell, FBA.
We invite short, informal discussion papers of 10-15 minutes both on particular early modern careers and reflections on the shape of academic careers for early modernists in the present.
Early modernists at all stages of their careers are invited to the day’s event. Registration is free, and will include refreshments and a drinks reception, but spaces are limited. Please send expressions of interest and questions to the event coordinators, Dr Tara Hamling and Dr Tom Lockwood, on firstname.lastname@example.org. It will be possible to reimburse travel expenses for postgraduates attending the networking day, and for those delivering papers.
