Clément Animan Akassi (Howard University) and Michèle Guicharnaud-Tollis (Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour) are inviting College and Independent scholars, specialists, artists and writers, to submit original papers for publication in a special issue of Líneas, French peer-reviewed journal. This special issue dedicated to the Afro-Cuban writer, Gastón Baquero(1914-1997), is titled Gastón Baquero et l’écriture de l’exil (1959-1997). It aims to gather essays that focus on Baquero’s works (ooems, essays, discourses, newspaper’s articles, mails) while he was in exile in Madrid, from 1959 to 1997. Akassi and Guicharnaud-Tollis, co-editors of the special issue, will greatly encourage submission of essays that show Baquero’s poetics, the tension exile vs writing, the influence of the exile (in Madrid) on Baquero’s poetry, the binariescubanía vs universalismo, hispanidadvs raza (negra); or the critical points of his essays, his perception of literature and freedom of poetics, his political thoughts and his ethics, etc. All the forthcoming essays will attempt to contribute to seek new approaches to Baquero’s works and bring into light a writer who has been silent and left for long time in the solitude.
All contributors are requested to submit their papers in French or Spanish (or eventually in English).
