The Metis Studies Pre-Conference Gathering will explore the many facets of Metis relationships with the land on the day before NAISA 2014. As a broad theme, a moderated yet open-ended discussion will explore the many dimensoins of Metis territoriality.
The morning session will explore the historic elements of Metis relationships to land and territory, and the afternoon session will examine the contemporary development of Metis territoriality--especially the ponetially tranformative impact of the Supreme Court of Canada ruling in MMF v. Canada
