The Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures at the University of Virginia, in Coordination with the Graduate Student Council of Arts and Sciences and the Center for German Studies, announces their 21st Annual German Studies Graduate Conference, entitled “We’ve been here before”: Manifestations of Repetition in Literature, Art, Music, and Science. The Conference will be held from February 28th to March 1st, 2014 at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va.
Opening remarks, and the keynote address will be held on February 28th, beginning at 5:00 pm, followed by a reception. Our keynote speaker is Irene Kacandes, Professor of German Studies and Comparative Literature at Dartmouth College. Her talk is entitled "Traumatic Echoes of Nazi Occupation in Personal Storytelling."
Student presentations will be held on March 1st, between the hours of 9am and 5:30pm.
All events will be held in Minor Hall, Room 125, on the UVa campus in Charlottesville, Va. We invite all interested to attend.
