The NC State History Graduate Student Conference will be held from 8:00am-5:00 pm on March 22, 2014. The conference provides a friendly and welcoming environment for scholarly interaction and professional development. Each presentation will last approximately 15 minutes, and each panel will be followed by comments from area faculty as well as general discussion. Lunch will be provided for conference attendees who pre-register through the conference webpage by March 7, 2014.
This year's conference will include 30 graduate research papers on a diverse range of topics including:
"We Were Part of That": Northern Ireland, Republicanism, and the Global Sixties
"A Fast Ride into the Depths of the Earth": Integrating Natural and Technological Wonders at Carlsbad Carerns National Park
"From Pirates to Pax Romana: The Economic Transformation of Crete from Hellenistic to Roman Periods"
The conference will also feature National Humanities Center fellow Sumathi Ramaswamy who will speak on "Global Encounters, Terrestrial Lessons, Worldly Selves."
