Call for Papers on "Indigenous Asias" for the special issue of Amerasian Journal: Asian American/Pacific Islander/Transcultural
Call for Papers Date:
Dear Colleagues and Friends
Please circulate this Call for Papers through your networks and consider making your own submissions. I think this is a rare chance to reconsider the idea of indigeneity and networks across geopolitical regions between "Oceania" and "Asia" in the 21st Century, and to nurture/highlight transoceanic new or revived pathways of knowledge and collaboration that challenge assumptions about environment, identity, empire, militarism, gender/sexuality, and many other important themes.
We are especially keen to include writing from indigenous writers and writers based in "Asian" institutions, and though we do not have the resources to translate works into English, we do encourage interdisciplinary work from writers--including younger scholars and students--for whom English may not be a first language. We also urge those of you who participated in our Transoceania2012 symposium in Tokyo to submit work that speaks to this special issue.
Our deadline for paper submissions of roughly 5,000 words is May 1, 2015, which is coming soon!
