This course is based in both Menorca (Balearic Islands) and Barcelona, Spain. Participants will spend time excavating the ancient Roman city of Sanisera in Menorca, Spain where fieldwork focuses on the excavation of an urban area where a monastery has been found. In the laboratory students will learn to classify artifacts found, including Roman pottery, numismatics and faunal remains. Participants will then travel to Barcelona for an archaeological tour around the city and visit its most important museums (with significant collections of ancient Egypt, Greek, Roman and Medieval cultures) as well as archaeological sites.
