I am searching for a third panelist to join myself and a colleague at this year's annual SHEAR conference, to be held in Philadelphia on July 17-20, 2014. I am working with Jay Donis, a graduate student at Lehigh university, to create a panel called "Communicating Landscapes." We will be working on travel narratives as a genre in the early American period. Jay is working on narratives that describe the landscape of Kentucky in this period. I am working on the narratives of traveling Quaker women that describe the Southern landscape of slavery. We are interested in the idea of travel narrative as a medium for communicating both land and identity, and are seeking panelists that can contribute to this theme.
If you are interested in joining us as a member (or as a commentator) for our panel, please contact me with a brief description of your proposed work. Thank you!
