The Seventh International Conference on the Inclusive Museum will be held from 4-6 August 2014 at The Autry Center in Los Angeles, California. This international and interdisciplinary event, along with its companion book series and peer-reviewed academic journal (coordinated and published by Common Ground Publishing), encourages discussion on the historical character and future shape of the museum, as well as key issues of inclusivity in the museum. The Call for Papers is now open, and we invite museum practitioners, researchers, thinkers, and teachers to submit abstracts and join this vibrant community.
Abstracts are accepted in monthly rounds and deadlines are regularly updated on our website. Topics for discussion are intentionally broad in order to encourage a wide range of backgrounds, ideas, and discussions. Themes include Visitors, Collections, and Representations, as well as our focus for the 2014 conference, "Shared Visions and Shared History."
Registrants with accepted abstracts are welcome to submit full articles to the fully peer-reviewed International Journal of the Inclusive Museum for possible publication.
Special registrations are available for ICOM, UNESCO, as well as other organizational members. Graduate Scholar Awards are also available for outstanding graduate students in the field, and provide the winners with opportunities to chair sessions, present their work, network with other community members, as well as attend the conference with a full waiver.
