The World History Association is issuing a Call for Papers for a Symposium with the theme “Port Cities in World History,” to be hosted by the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain from March 26-28, 2014.
Individual papers and complete panels will be considered.
Scholars from all disciplines are encouraged to participate. Papers are welcome which pursue interdisciplinary, local-to-global, comparative, or international approaches. Any questions about paper suitability should be directed to the Program Committee co-chairs Ruben Carrillo, firstname.lastname@example.org or Mariona Llorett, email@example.com.
All paper proposals must include an abstract (325 words maximum), a brief biographical information (250 words maximum) for introduction by Chair, a one page CV, and can be submitted at www.thewha.org. Please indicate at the time of submission whether you require AV use, and whether this paper is part of an organized panel.
Organizers of complete panels (typically three presenters, but no more than four), can submit an abstract for the entire panel at www.thewha.org. Organizers may list a Chair, if known, and optional Discussant at the same time. Panel proposals must also include the names of all participants and their contact information, listed in the order they will present.
UPV is one of only a few European universities to offer graduate degrees in world history, and graduate students are especially encouraged to attend both the Symposium and a one-day pre-conference workshop on dissertation and thesis proposals. To apply for the pre-conference workshop, send a brief letter of interest and an abstract of your planned project to the Workshop coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All Symposium participants must register by January 15, 2014 in order to be listed on the program. Complete information about the symposium, is posted online at www.thewha.org.
