The annual winter conference of the BAHS will in 2013 honour Ted Collins, a longstanding member and leading historian of rural life and agricultural change in Britain. The conference will focus on the broad themes of technology and power in agriculture and woodland management, to which Ted Collins has made distinguished contributions over the years. Papers cover the agricultural horse trade in medieval England (Jordan Claridge, UEA); edge tools and the plantation hoe, tracing international networks of technology and agriculture (Chris Evans, Glamorgan); fuel supply and landscape change in post-medieval England (Tom Williamson, UEA); and electrification in agriculture (Karen Sayers, Leeds Trinity).
