Join us on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 1:30 PM at the MARC Pavilion room of Florida International University's Modesto Maidique Campus for the Fourth Annual African & African Diaspora Studies Program's Humanities Afternoon- Rastafari Then and Now: Caribbeanist Anthropology, Gender Relations, and Global Dimensions. We will have two guest lecturers- Dr. Robert Hill, Professor of History at University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Hill's lecture is titled, "The Ras Tafari Movement in Kingston, Jamaica: Political Breakthrough or Academic Betrayal?" The second lecture will be given by Dr. Michael Barnett, Lecturer in Sociology at the University of West Indies, Mona, Jamaica. Dr. Barnett's lecture is titled, "Rastafari in the New Millenium." The lectures will be followed by a question and answer period and then a reception.
