The Institute for Organic Understanding, a research and advocacy initiative of European Union-based, and non-profit, Intercontinental Open University, announces a one-of-a-kind, three-day Forum, to be held October 7, 8 and 9, 2014 at The Sutton Place Hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia, which will endeavor to assess humankind's predicament from the viewpoints of health, justice, knowledge, freedom, information and morals. Toward this end, the Forum will spotlight selected photographic works commissioned by emerging Canadian photographer, Victoria Prevot, whose emotive images will anchor six expert panels, each composed of a local, a national and a global thought leader, and each of which will engage a theme designated from among the six themes articulated by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Chris Hedges, within a context bequeathed to us by legendary Canadian photographer, Yousuf Karsh. Following silent viewings of six portfolios, each assembled by the artist to express a corresponding theme, a panel assigned to that particular theme will offer responses to three philosophically disparate papers, chosen after double-blind review for their ivory-tower zeal and their down-to-earth appeal. It is anticipated that given the key stakeholders expected to be present at the event, much food for thought -- and action -- will be served. Prospective presenters are invited to submit, upon thoughtful consideration of the Conference themes, an Abstract in response to any one of them. Abstracts must be submitted in .pdf format and must not be more than 250 words in length. Submit the Abstract to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than January 15, 2014. Notifications will be emailed on February 15, 2014. Those interested in serving as a session Chair or a Panelist may submit a full CV and cover letter to email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org, respectively, no later than March 1, 2014. Questions may be directed to email@example.com.
