This roundtable with 2013 MLA President Marianne Hirsch, former president Mary Louise Pratt, PMLA editor Simon Gikandi, Pierre Force, Dean of Humanities, Columbia, and Carlos Alonso, member of the MLA Task Force on Graduate Education and Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Columbia, explores the work of one of America's oldest and largest scholarly associations. Panelists consider current debates about the future of education in the humanities, the politics of language in the age of globalization, publishing and scholarly communication in the digital age, and the future of graduate education.
