British Association for American Studies (BAAS) Conference 2014
University of Birmingham
10-13 April 2014
HOTCUS Panel: History and the Moving Image
This panel, sponsored by the Historians of the Twentieth Century United States (HOTCUS), will explore the value of the moving image to current historical analyses of twentieth century America. Undoubtedly the pre-eminent American media and art form of the last century, this panel considers film broadly defined, from the glamorous fictions of Golden Age Hollywood to documentary, news and home movie footage. HOTCUS invites proposals for papers highlighting current scholarship that makes use of film both in history and as history. Proposals for 20 minute papers (250 words max) and a brief biography should be sent to Dr. Cara Rodway, HOTCUS Committee Secretary at firstname.lastname@example.org, by Friday 25 October.
