“Comparative Literature/Studies in the Global Age”
Les Cahiers Ivoiriens d’Etudes Comparees (CIEC) / Ivorian Journal of Comparative Studies (IJCS) is currently accepting submissions for its upcoming inaugural edition. The inaugural theme will be covering the challenges and stakes of comparative literature/studies in Africa and in the world.
Comparative literature/studies seek(s) to challenge this monolithic world order for the coming of age of a cosmopolitan community where linguistic, national and disciplinary barriers are less rigid.
CIEC/IJCS invites papers addressing the topic of comparative literature, its impact in our world at this stage of globalization where the hegemonic powers that be seek to impose monolingualism and monoculturalism through dominant cultures and the so-called international languages to the detriment of other language cultures.
In celebration of comparative studies which seek to fight down walls between world cultures and peoples, we invite papers in literature, linguistics, cultural studies, translation, philosophy, among others, dealing with the merits of intercultural exchange in the age of globalization.
We welcome contributions dealing with but not limited necessarily to the following topics:
Critical Race Theory
Origins of Ideas, Texts, Genres and Movements
Literature as an Intercultural Bridge
Filmic Representations of Dominant/Minor Cultures
Immigration, Exile, Hybridity and Borderlands
History and Memory
Constructions and Performances of Identity
Translation Theory in Africa and around the World
Oral Traditions: Griotic Storytelling, Folktales, Urban/Street Poetry
Articles must be submitted in a Word format to the co-Editors. Articles (12 pages maximum) should be double-spaced including references and must conform to the CIEC/IJCS guidelines for authors to be considered for publication.
All submissions should include a cover sheet, not attached to the paper that includes the author’s name, title of paper, contact information, major field, graduate level, graduate institution and a brief (50 words or less) biographical statement. No submission will be accepted that does not meet these basic requirements.
All submissions to CIEC/IJCS are subject to a peer-review process. The papers will be evaluated for their sound scholarship and intellectual contribution to comparative literature/studies. CIEC/IJCS does not publish articles that have already been published or accepted for publication elsewhere. All entries must be received by October 31, 2013. Please email all submissions as well as any other queries that you may have to email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
