This is a Call for Papers for the New England Studies Area of the 2014 Popular Culture Association Conference to be held in Chicago, Illinois, from April 16 -19. Proposals are welcomed on any aspect of New England popular culture, such as film, literature, politics, history, music, food, sports, celebrities, entertainment, gambling casinos, etc. Boston-based topics, such as films made in the area; infamous figures such as Whitey Bulger, the Boston Strangler; the Boston Marathon tragedy, Boston Strong; and area sports teams and politics are of timely interest.
Presentations should be 15-20 minutes in length and lively in nature! The deadline for submission of a 200-word abstract is November 1, 2013. Acceptance will be earlier than usual to enhance your ability to seek funding. All proposals should be submitted to the PCA database which may be found at the htpp://pcaaca.org website. Please include university affiliation (if applicable), telephone number, and e-mail address. Graduate students welcome; individual and full panel proposals are considered.
