This is an urgent call for a presenter to participate in a forthcoming SCMS conference panel titled “Film, Asian philosophy, Environmental/Ecocritical Concerns.” The panel focuses on film and media texts that explore any ecocritical issues related to animals, the environment, or broader issues in sustainability, in relation to Asian philosophical ideas.
You will join a panel of three other presenters whose papers focus on Buddhism and Shintoism in a range of films including Canadian documentaries, Chinese films and Japanese anime. We welcome any contribution that explores Asian philosophical ideas in relation to environmental or ecological issues in films (such as in Taoism, Confucianism, Buddhism, Shintoism, Hinduism and Islamic philosophy).
The Society of Cinema and Media Studies (SCMS) 2014 Conference will take place on March 19-23 at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel. Please submit a 300 word abstract, a brief bio, and any questions to Kiu-wai Chu at email@example.com.
Deadline for proposal submission is August 29, 2013.
