Oral History Collection: German Honorary Consul, Winnipeg 1981-2009
The Oral History Forum d'histoire orale is proud to announce the launch of a new feature: "Oral Histories" is an online archive of oral history projects that provide researchers with access to complete oral history projects, including audio files, transcripts, summaries, biographies, and other material.
The first collection is "Oral History Collection: German Honorary Consul, Winnipeg 1981-2009"
Project Description: The “German Honorary Consul Winnipeg 1981-2009 Oral History Project” was initiated in 2009 by Dr. Alexander Freund, Chair in German-Canadian Studies at the University of Winnipeg. It was motivated by the retirement of Gerhard and Deborah Spindler from the office of the Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in August 2009. The objective was to document the experiences and memories of the office’s two main staff members who, as honorary consul and main administrator, had been instrumental in the running of the office between 1981 and 2009.
