A project devoted to writing a history of the Chinese People’s War (remin zhanzheng) from an international perspective seeks qualified post-doctoral researcher. Expertise in the history of the Sino-Japanese war, diplomatic history of Chins during the Pacific War, historians of war and guerrilla war are welcome to apply. Qualifications include demonstrated ability to do archival research and to organize findings using appropriate software. Ability to verbalize historical methods, including how to evaluate oral histories, near native fluency in English and Chinese, sensitivity to broad diplomatic and war archives necessary; reading competence in Japanese a plus. The project focuses on leading diplomats, military theorists and oral or documented histories of citizens involved in the anti-Japanese war. Terms are two years, renewable, competitive salary, housing provided in Shanghai city, plus benefits. Research funding for your own affiliated publication project also included. Ability to work in a team necessary.
