I am seeking panelists, a commentator and chair to participate in a session on Women, Slavery and the Civil War at the 2013 Annual Meeting of the Southern Historical Association (Atlanta, Georgia in November 2013).
My paper interrogates the ways that white slaveowning women grappled with the decommodification of enslaved African Americans and the financial loss they experienced as a consequence of emancipation. I ask interested scholars whose work takes up the proposed panel theme and whose research might complement this paper, as well as those who might be willing to act as commentator or chair, to contact me via email at Stephanie-Jones-Rogers@uiowa.edu as soon as possible but no later than August 15, 2013.
