The introduction is free!
The collection addresses several key questions: What are the origins of our social interest in suicide? What is the historical significance of that interest? Why should the history of self-killing attract special interest? And, most significantly, how was modern suicide made? In each case, we seek specific answers from judicial experts, nationalists, physicians, psychiatrists, sociologists, theologians and, not least, the self-killers who peopled it.
