Christelle Taraud is a member of the Centre de recherches en histoire du XIXe siècle (Paris I/Paris IV) and teaches at the Columbia Global Center in Paris. Her books include La prostitution coloniale: Algérie, Tunisie, Maroc, 1830-1962 (Payot, 2003) and her forthcoming Sexe et colonies : Virilité, homosexualité et tourisme sexuel au Maghreb (1830-1962) (Paris, Payot, 2013).
