YIDDISH SUMMER PROGRAM at TEL AVIV UNIVERSITY
The Naomi Prawer Kadar International Yiddish Summer Program at Tel Aviv University is proud to announce its faculty members and guest lecturers for the summer of 2013 (June 16 to July 11). As in previous years, these outstanding educators from Israel, North America, and Europe insure the high quality of our language instruction and academic enrichment program.
The teaching staff will be Professor Itskhok Niborski, Professor Eugene Orenstein, Daniel Birnbaum, Eliezer Niborski, Esther Rollansky, Oren Roman, Leah Skiba, Vera Szabo and Dr. Miriam Trinh.
Among the guest lecturers in the afternoon academic program are Professor Nancy Sinkoff of Rutgers University, who will give the “Naomi Prawer Kadar Annual Lecture”, Professor Mikhail Krutikov of the University of Michigan, Professor David G. Roskies of the Jewish Theological Seminary and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and Professor Kalman Weiser of York University. Professor Justin Cammy of Smith College will present a series of lectures on "Landmarks of Yiddish Literature" which can be audited or taken for one credit (requiring written work).
We are also pleased to announce that this year a folk music workshop will be led by Zalmen Mlotek, the artistic director of the National Yiddish Theater-Folksbine, as part of the enrichment program which also includes tours, films, and musical events.
As students of TAU International, the Tel Aviv University School for Overseas Students, participants will be eligible for 80 hours of language and literature instruction (four credits).
The costs of the program are:
• $ 1450 tuition
• $ 60 registration fee
• $ 600 for housing (double occupancy)
Scholarships are available for full time students.
