Call for papers for the RMMLA Convention, October 2013 in Vancouver, Washington (close to Portland). The topic of this panel, “War and Literature”, is the Spanish Civil War and how it was or has been represented in literature, art, and film within Spain and internationally, both during the war and well after its end in 1939. Due to the diverse perspectives on the significance, causes, and lasting effects of the war, we will be asking for abstracts from a broad range of disciplines for possible participation in the panel. Papers on representations of the Spanish Civil War within global historical, aesthetic, ethical, political, or social contexts are welcomed and encouraged, as are interdisciplinary approaches. For further information, please contact Anna Hiller at hillanna@isu.edu. Abstracts must be received by 15 March 2013.
