We would like to announce the existence of the Centre for English Traditional Heritage to the folklore community. The Centre aims to continue the work of the National Centre for English Cultural Tradition, formerly part of the University of Sheffield. The Centre collects information on all aspects of language and tradition in England and throughout the British Isles on a continuing basis. The substantial amount of material gathered by the Survey is deposited in the archives of the Centre.
The Centre aims to stimulate interest in language and cultural tradition, encourage the collecting and recording of traditional material through individual contributors, societies and organisations, colleges and schools, and provide a forum for discussion on all aspects of language and tradition. It acts as a repository for contributed material in permanent archives accessible for reference and research.
The Centre issues two publications: an online journal, Tradition Today, and a newsletter, trad. Submissions are invited for both of these publications. Please see the website for more information.
