Representing Evil: The Holocaust, Slavery, and Beyond: An MLA panel exploring American literary and film narratives of the Holocaust and slavery rooted in notions of evil. We are interested in essays that speak to the way that American cultural production mediates experiences like slavery and the Holocaust through accounts of evil, the incarnations of these representations of evil, and the politics of this representational move. Interdisciplinary essays on the figure of the perpetrator or narratives of evil in other mass trauma historiographies are welcome. Please submit abstracts of 300 words with a current CV by March 15, 2013. For more information or to submit a proposal, contact Danielle Christmas at dchris20@uic.edu.
