Please circulate this notice of and invitation to the Irish EU Presidency Historical Conference 'Eminent Europeans of Irish Origin. The Impact of Ireland in Europe: An Historical Perspective'. The conference will take place in the Royal Irish Academy on Thursday 21st & Friday 22nd February 2013. Major themes of the conference include Ireland & the European Project in the 20th & 21st Centuries; Irish Intellectual & Literary Influences in Europe; Irish Émigrés in European Diplomacy, Intelligence Strategy & Security; Irish innovations in European Medicine; Irish Political Legacies in Europe; Irish Contributions to European Trade, Commerce & Finance; & Irish Foundations of European Civilisation.
The conference registration fee is €10. Students, Pensioners and the Unwaged are exempt from the fee. The presentations will be given with a broad audience in mind - interested & informed members of historical, literary and liberal arts societies & groups, members of the diplomatic corps as well as members of academe.
