We’re putting together a panel on care work for the 2013 American Anthropological Association Annual Meeting to be held in Chicago (November 20-24) and are looking for scholars working in this area who might want to join us. We haven't narrowed the panel's focus much at this point, as the shape it takes will undoubtedly depend on who comes on board. We’re open to research concerning care work in any of its many manifestations and to projects from a range of regions and subfields. Our own research projects concern the relationships between people with severe disabilities and their caregivers and the care-taking dimension of professional organizing (organizing your stuff, that is, not your political movement).
We’ll eventually need abstracts from all participants (complete panel submissions are due March 15 or April 15, depending on what panel status we decide to seek), but at this stage we’re simply checking the level of interest and starting a conversation. Feel free to get in touch with any questions or if you think your work might fit this panel. Please forward this announcement to others for whom it might be of interest.
Abstracts and questions should be directed to Carrie Lane at clane@fullerton.edu.
