For centuries, literature from East Asia has reflected the respect traditionally afforded educators. In the modern era, however, cultural mores are being uprooted and teachers often complain of being devalued. This panel will seek to explore modern depictions of educators, examining what sentiment is reflected in modern literature. We invite papers concerned with any aspect of the portrayal of education and educators in modern East Asian literature.
