Submissions for papers are invited for the 35th meeting of the Mid-American conference on the topic of "Transnationalism and Minority Cultures” at the University of Oklahoma, September 26-28, 2013. Transnationalism transcends national boundaries and highlights the interconnectedness of people and places, of local communities and the global processes that link them. We welcome paper and panel submissions on e.g.: exile, migration, and diaspora studies; transnational cultures and cultural production; transnational theory, praxis, and critiques; border communities; transnational citizenship and activism. Faculty and graduate student abstracts on the conference theme are welcomed. Abstracts for papers should be 250 words. Panel proposals should contain a 250-word session description as well as three paper proposals and a moderator / commentator. All submissions should include a 1-page cv and audio-visual needs.
